About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be crucial in designing and building core platform services that demand non-negotiable correctness and unforgiving scale. This role involves architecting systems from first principles, making long-term architectural decisions, and challenging requirements to ensure robust and scalable solutions for B2B companies. You will be instrumental in shaping the platform for years and driving engineering quality across the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build core platform services that handle complex business logic reliably at scale.
• Architect and own integrations with external enterprise systems, managing their quirks, rate limits, and failure modes.
• Build APIs that enterprise engineering teams love integrating with.
• Own production debugging end-to-end, diagnosing issues across services using logs, traces, and metrics.
• Work closely with product, implementation, and customer success, acting as the engineer who deeply understands the system.
• Embed security and compliance thinking into systems by default.
• Lead design reviews and code reviews, setting architectural standards.
• Mentor engineers, raising the bar without slowing the team down.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience building production systems at scale.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking from Top 7 IITs.
• Demonstrated ability to articulate complex technical problems, their solutions, and the resulting impact.
• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language, showcasing deep engineering judgment.
• Strong system design capabilities, including reasoning through tradeoffs, failure modes, and long-term maintainability under pressure.
• Hands-on experience with observability tools (logs, traces, metrics) for diagnosing complex issues in distributed services.
• Awareness of security and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, DPDPA) and their engineering implications.
• Production experience with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ).
• Experience deploying and operating services at scale on cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Background in B2B SaaS / enterprise software, including multi-tenant systems, external integrations, and enterprise workflows.
• Strong commitment to a robust testing culture (unit, integration, and end-to-end).
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Experience with financial systems, billing platforms, or fintech applications.
• Understanding of SaaS business models and relevant compliance frameworks.
• Proven experience in API design and integration.
