Chartered Accountant (Finance & Compliance)

About the Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented, ownership-driven Chartered Accountant to own end-to-end finance, compliance, and reporting across our entities. This is a build-from-scratch role, not a maintenance one: you'll design the financial processes and controls that let us move fast without compromising compliance and bring in-house work that is currently handled by external consultants. You'll be comfortable with complexity—money moving across multiple entities and revenue evolving from subscriptions today toward transaction- and brokerage-based flows tomorrow. We value people who are biased toward execution and research over high-level strategy and who can keep pace with changing regulations and find answers quickly.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books of accounts and balance sheets across all entities (parent + subsidiaries)
• Ensure real-time updates in Tally and proper ledger management
• Handle reconciliations (bank, vendor, inter-company, and platform-related transactions)
• Manage TDS, GST, and PT payments and filings
• Ensure adherence to all statutory and regulatory compliance across entities, including SEBI-related requirements
• Oversee PF, gratuity calculations, and compliance enforcement
• Conduct regular compliance checks to avoid penalties or lapses
• Handle salary disbursal, payroll structuring, and employee tax calculations
• Ensure timely TDS deductions and payroll-related filings
• Support employees with tax-related queries where required
• Track and reconcile subscription revenue flows across platforms
• Account for and monitor interest income from liquid funds / money market instruments
• Manage cash flow movement between accounts and entities
• Ensure proper revenue recognition and compliance with accounting standards
• Prepare monthly MIS reports, including P&L, cash flow, and variance analysis
• Build and maintain cash flow forecasts and budgets
• Support founders with financial insights for decision-making
• Assist in scenario planning as the business scales
• Handle accounting and compliance for parent and subsidiary entities
• Manage inter-company transactions, reconciliations, and reporting
• Ensure clean and compliant financial structuring as money moves across entities
• Manage vendor negotiation, payments, invoicing, and expense tracking
• Implement and improve financial controls and processes
• Work closely with operations and product teams for financial alignment
• Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and regulatory bodies
• Support statutory audits, tax audits, and due diligence processes
• Maintain documentation and audit readiness at all times

Qualifications

• Qualified Chartered Accountant or a semi-qualified CA with strong, relevant hands-on experience
• 2–5 years of relevant experience, with 3+ preferred given multi-entity complexity (consultancy or startup background is a strong plus)
• Comfortable with multi-entity / intercompany finance and money movement across entities
• Strong understanding of Indian taxation, compliance, and corporate law
• Hands-on with Tally and modern accounting tooling
• Fast-moving and research-driven; able to keep up with evolving regulations rather than defaulting to "how it's always been done"
• High attention to detail, strong ownership mindset, and exceptional written and verbal communication
• Based in (or open to relocating to) Bangalore
• Wants to do the work, not just advise on it — execution over strategy
